My first wedding shoot and 4 things i learned from it
Last Friday was really exciting! I was nervous and extremely stressed throughout the whole event. It was hectic to think about everything I ever learned in filmmaking. It was the first wedding I filmed in my filmmaking career and a great but intense experience. It started out pretty chill. I packed and charged all my stuff the night before. Emptied all my SD cards and didn’t go to bed too late. I got up when the alarm went off. Unfortunately, I went back to bed and fell asleep without another alarm. I got lucky and woke up an hour later, still in time to get ready (very lucky!).
I somehow thought my dress pants and jacket were at my place. I was wrong and so I had to jump in the car, drive to my parents and put on my dress pants plus get my jacket. I drove to my mates’ house, whose brother’s wedding I was going to film. Unlucky me, I forgot to bring the jacket again. We drove back to my parents’ house again, to get the jacket I didn’t put on once during the whole event. Worth the drive. Things could’ve only gotten better from that time. This was kind of true.
As we got to the destination, we were just in time with the bride, groom and the other hired photographer. They started taking pictures and I used the opportunity to get some various shots of the couple by itself. When all the photos were taken, they went straight in the house to get married. I on the other hand didn’t think it would be going that fast and totally forgot to switch lenses and set up a backup audio. Something to keep in mind for the next time. After the event we drove to the location of the party and I continued filming throughout the night. It was a blast but really hard work too. I had blisters after the first hour but got some ducktape to fix it. I even got to have a few drinks and partied with everyone afterwards. It was my best friend’s family at least. I got home at 7pm.
A couple of days after, I met up with my two best mates to go canoeing and hang out before I head off to Austria. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and we continued to paddle around the small channels even though it was dark. It was a warm summer night and the water flat calm. Just a good day with my boys xxxx
