I’ve got a new sponsor for an upcoming trip called: mellow boards!
Here’s how things started out:
I got to know the people from mellow boards at a bike event in Hamburg. We were talking about my long-distance longboard trip from Hamburg to Munich and after I sent one of the dudes my video, he asked me If I wanted to do another tour with a mellow board. I was down for it and soon after, I met him again at the mellow boards office. We were talking with the marketing manager via Skype and quickly figured out a rough plan on how things could go down. The plan was to start in Hamburg and drive about 800km down to Munich, in the very south of Germany.

Mellow Boards was funded in 2015 by a kickstarter campaign and has been thriving ever since. They developed a really solid electrical longboard and I got to test it for half an hour while I was there. They’re actually not selling the board itself but rather the drive underneath it. It is like an extended version of the longboard trucks everyone is used to. It has an exchangeable battery and the motor is built within the wheels. We talked about how mellow will come up for my expenses along the trip. They will cover my food, the accommodation and the ride back to Hamburg. We planned that I will take me about 10 days for to get down to Munich, which meant 80km a day and 4 extra packs of batteries. I was really keen and for my surprise, they wanted the trip to happen as fast as possible. For now, I will only have to figure out how I can get the time off work.
