How to fix the 12-60mm F2.8 Leica lens for the Panasonic GH5
It all started out when I got a new camera second-hand. I bought the GH5 body and the Panasonic 12-60mm f2.8. Just a few days after the purchase, I wrecked the lens. I accidentally dropped my camera bag on the concrete floor. It wasn’t a big hit but I probably just got really unlucky and the lens broke of the GH5 housing.
So what steps do you have to take in order to fix this broken lens?
First of all I looked for the parts that got wrecked on the camera. I found out that those parts are called: the lens bayonet mount and the lens mount contact point cable. Lucky nothing apart from a bit of dust on the sensor happened to the GH5 Body!
After I ordered the parts from the internet, I took apart the lens by removing all of the screws and ribbon cables. I exchanged the ripped off cable and put all of the screws and cables back in. In the first attempt I forgot to put one cable back in and it didn’t work to start with but after I plugged that one in too, everything worked fine again!
Well, I got the camera I thought would suit me the best and the first bullet point is crossed off the list.
